After Watching How Gummy Candies Are Really Made, You’ll Never Eat Them Again (Disturbing & Graphic)

We all remember the good old childhood days, where we spend all our day playing out with our friends, we had no real worries, and our biggest wish was to own the candy shop near the house.

As time passes by, we learn to avoid these sweet sins as we care about our waistline, healthy life, and flawless skin. Yet, every now or then, we crave for some delicious candy and we cannot resist it.

However, if you are especially fond to gummy worms, gummy bears, or peach rings, and simply cannot avoid having them from time to time, the video we are presenting today will help you a lot with this.

Namely, the following short film by a Belgian filmmaker Alina Kneepkens will dramatically change the way you look at gummy candies. Alina shows the process of production of these candies in intense details, and it will definitely keep you far away from them.

It is a part of a series of videos documenting the disastrous conditions under which our food is produced. Some of the other videos investigate the content of the black pudding, and a rabbit with plums, which is a typical Belgian dish.

She starts the footage in reverse, showing the finished product we all love, just before it is put in the mouth. Then, she begins to explain all the horrifying facts about its production.

Yet, if this video is not too disgusting for you to forget about gummy candies in general, you should know that there are also some healthy alternatives which are produced with the use of vegan gelatin substitutes, like agar.

The following graphic realization of the entire process will depict the way our favorite sweet treats are made. Initially, the pig carcasses are torched and stripped of their skin, and afterward boiled down to give the flavorless ingredient. The process also uses the bones, tendons, and ligaments in order to concoct the substance.

On her website, Kneepkens on the video that serves to open the eyes of the customers:

“I got the assignment to direct some reversed audiovisual stories showing the production of some of our food. I saw quite a few slaughter houses and examples of both industrial and artisan food production.

A true eye opener. Jelly’ is candy. But only a few people know they’re made of gelatin from the skin of pigs. Sweet?”

Therefore, click on the link below and watch the video and decide whether you would like to put a gummy candy in your mouth once again:
