Rescued Circus Elephants Reunite After 22 Years— The Unforgettable Moment Is Melting Hearts

Elephants are huge, cute and smart. Simple as that. These giants have the biggest brain when compared to animals that walk on land. Believe it or not, every inch of these animals is full of emotions.

Look deep in their eyes? Can you see how smart and caring they are? Elephants have a soft and warm nature, but unfortunately, many of them are mistreated.

Elephants are usually captured and bred into captivity. Yes, they are later taken to circuses. Before joining the “circus crew,” elephants are tortured by cruel people.

The story of Shirley and Jenny made us cry. The girls were captured by circus staff, and were forced to perform. They were babies! However, Shirley and Jenny supported each other, and became best friends. Living at the circus was terrible, but the baby elephants had each other.

Things changed overnight. Some people snuck into the circus, and stole Jenny. She was taken away in the back of a van. Here comes the best part. The people who stole Jenny were actually volunteers for an elephant sanctuary. Jenny was given a second chance, and she lived her best life. She made many friends at the sanctuary, but she missed her dearest friend.

Shirley was all by herself. She didn’t have anybody by her side, and cruel people were her only companions.

The circus staff didn’t other animals, and that was actually good, because no animals were harmed. However, Shirley was lonely. The circus decided to get rid of her.  The good news? She ended up in the same sanctuary. Shirley didn’t know that she would meet Jenny. She hadn’t seen another elephant for two decades.

People at the sanctuary brought a friendly elephant, Tara, close to Shirley’s cell. Instead of acting aggressively, Shirley extended her trunk to Tara, and Tara did the same. This was their “hi.”

Here’s the second best part. Jenny walked towards Shirley, and let out the loudest shriek anyone has ever heard. The two friends embraced and even bent the bars. Volunteers opened the door, and Shirley was able to hug her friend properly. She remembered her, and they spent two hours together.

Elephants never forget, and this is absolutely true. Shirley became aware of her freedom, and she was happier than ever.

Millions of animals live in captivity, and the situation doesn’t seem to go in the right direction. Animals are killed and tortured, and poachers don’t even think of their emotions. All they care about is profits. Shirley and Jenny aren’t the only animals with sad stories.
