Pepsi Admits That Its Aquafina Bottled Water Is Just Tap Water, Coca-Cola’s Dasani Is Next

Many people are seriously concerned about the poor quality of tap water.

Tap water often contains pharmaceuticals and fluoride, and choose to purchase bottled water, as a better alternative. Yet, what is now even more disturbing is the fact that, in many cases, there is no difference between bottled and tap water.

“Corporate Accountability International” is an advocacy group which has been examining the bottled water content for years. Due to their findings, they force companies to admit the nature of the water they sell and quit the untrue advertisement.

It was this Friday when the Pepsi corporation finally confessed to be falsely claiming that its Aquafina bottled water is  purified water or spring water. Namely, it consists of plain tap water. Due to this, they will need to change the label to indicate that it is simply tap water after all.

Consequently, its sale may be reduced due to this confession, and it was one of the best selling water types throughout the world.

The representative of PepsiCo, Michelle Naughton state that “If this helps clarify the fact that the water originates from public sources, then it’s a reasonable thing to do.”

Furthermore, next on the list of the  “Corporate Accountability International” is Coca-Cola’s Dasani bottled water, but they refuse to admit that their “bottled” water is simple tap water, and negate that they are also responsible for false advertisement.

The spokeswoman of Coca-Cola, Diana Garza CIarlante added that“We don’t believe that consumers are confused about the source of Dasani water. The label clearly states that it is purified water.”

Another unpleasant news related to this topic  was the announcement of the biggest water supplier Niagra Bottling that one of their springs was contaminated by E-Coli, which led to the recalling of the products by numerous leading bottled water companies.
