Most people have experienced muscle cramps out of many reasons.
When a muscle is cramped, it is actually contracting and tightening and causes strong pain and discomfort. This condition can last from a couple of seconds to a few minutes. Mostly, people have experienced it just upon waking up or before going to bed.
The reason
Although muscle cramps are not serious medical condition, they can be caused by some health issues, Dehydration is one of them. Other times, cramps can happen because of excessive alcohol drinking or flat feet. In more serious cases, they are an indicator of certain kidney disease.
Muscle cramps happen as a result of heavy training, muscle injury, and physical inactivity for longer periods of time.
In more severe cases, they can be caused by meds related to birth control, diuretics and steroids. At times, a lack of potassium in the organism or cold weather can trigger muscle cramping.
Muscle cramp home remedies
- Epsom salt
Epsom salt is beneficial for the body in general and treats muscle cramping as well.
- Put Epsom salt in a hot tub and stir well. Soak in water for 20 minutes to relieve pain.
- If you don’t witness improvement the first time, repeat once more the following day.
Tip: You can also use Epsom salt to treat heart problems, high blood pressure or diabetes issues.
- Yellow mustard
Because it is full of magnesium, helpful for treating leg cramps, mustard is an amazing therapy. Many famous athletes use it when they are cramping. Usually, you have to consume a couple of spoons of mustard and deal with leg cramps.
Mustard contains acetic acid, which is in charge of producing acetylcholine in the body. This compound encourages the muscles to be active and keeps them healthy.
- Cramp relieve treatment
- 1 tbsp. oregano
- 1 tbsp. rosemary
- 1 tbsp. anise seeds
- 1 tbsp. cloves
Preparation: Mix ingredients in two cups of water and place water to simmer. When the amount of only half a cup is left, drink the liquid. Best time to consume the cure is before bedtime.
Note: keep your organism hydrated to avoid muscle cramping. This will also regulate your sweating problems and the heat waves, too.
