In Bizarre New Trend People Are Changing Shape Of Their Lips Into ‘Devil Lips’

Women can go to great lengths to look attractive and unique, but in recent years, this has led to some pretty bizarre beauty trends. It seems that, just for show, girls would try all kinds of face-changing tools, makeup, and Photoshop.

The new trend that has puzzled many is named “Devil Lips”. It has started in Russia, and opinions about it are divided.

Women make the edges of their lips wavy, and these pointed outlines have also been termed ‘umbrella lips’, and ‘octopus lips’.

The treatment is reported to involve inserting filler in the outer lip to create a wave effect across both the lips. Some maintain that the procedure was first done in Russia, by the plastic surgeon Emelian Braude, and many followed suit by creating their own versions of the trend, using Photoshop and makeup.

Plenty of women have supported the trend on Instagram, but many found it strange, even stupid, and compared it blisters, “an exotic form of herpes”, and “oddly aesthetically pleasing.”

It seems that these lips exist only on a screen for now, and no cosmetic surgeons or practitioners have claimed that they have created devil lips, but images with the #devillips tag horrify people on the Internet.

Doctors and experts advise avoiding it. According to Dr. Krystyna, a London-based Cosmetic Dentist, and Facial Aesthetician:

“You cannot change the anatomical shape of the lips like this. You can sharpen and contour by enhancing the vermillion border, but these ‘devil lips’ are unnatural.

Filler injected inappropriately could end up in blood vessels, causing blockages and leading to necrosis (death) of the tissue. The vessels are around the lips, so using filler inappropriately is what can cause this.”

Dr. Chimene Langley, a dentist, and aesthetic practitioner, says: “I can’t see how it would be possible to completely change the shape of the lip this way.

When you inject into the vermillion border you enhance the border and give it more of a crisp outline. But you can’t really alter the shape into something else entirely. If this is real it’s pretty horrendous anyway.”

You might find it outrageous, but images of women with devil lips pop up on social media.
