Here is Why Your Grandparents Didn’t Have Food Allergies… But You Do!

Have you ever wondered why your grandparents did not suffer from food allergies, or at least they were not as common as nowadays?

There is a growing number of people suffering from this type of allergies, and this modern epidemic significantly complicates life, and at the same time, its treatment can be quite expensive.

“Every 3 minutes, a food allergy reaction sends someone to the emergency department – that is more than 200,000 emergency department visits per year.” FoodAllergy

A study released in 2013 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests that the number of children suffering from these allergies has risen by 50% between 1997 and 2011.

Moreover, according to Dr. Mercola, milk allergies are the number one food allergy in America, and he believes it has all started in the 1990’s, due to the use of growth hormones incorporated in milk and the overuse of antibiotics in factory farming.

Therefore, we should spot the major cause in something we didn’t use before- processed foods!

These foods contribute to allergies since they are high in various flavors, preservatives, food colorings, and additives. However, this is not all. Another serious threat is hidden in the food stores around the state.

Namely, new food proteins were engineered and introduced into our food in the mid-1990′s, and people are still unaware of it.

O’Brien suggests that the goal was to maximize profitability for the food industry, but there were no human trials conducted in order to examine whether they are safe for human and animal consumption.

This change was implemented in the production of numerous foods, including milk, which is the main food allergen in the United States nowadays.

Namely, in 1994, the dairy industry, with the aim to boost the production of milk, began to use a genetically engineered growth hormone, rBGH (recombinant bovine growth hormone) on cows.

This led to increased rates of disease in the treated livestock. Then, in order to counteract the side effects, dairies also began to use more antibiotics, which are one of the major reasons for the increase in antibiotic-resistant superbugs in humans.

Hence, there is a great difference between our “modern” lifestyle and the life before.

Our grandparents did not suffer from food allergies as they consumed unprocessed, organic food with no preservatives. Their products came from markets and farms. Thus, babies consumed healthy breast milk.

Moreover, they did not consume foods that led to obesity or bloating, and their food contained no added chemicals, stabilizers, additives, preservatives, flavoring, GMO’s or food coloring. Nowadays, these ingredients are dominant in the food we eat.

The meat people used to consume came from animals that were not treated with chemicals, and the old fashioned chicken broth was a common cure for various health conditions.

People did not use computers, cell phones or gaming systems during their entire time, and children played outside in nature, they climbed the trees, ran in the fields and rode bikes, not motorbikes or cars!

Moreover, our grandparents almost never visited their doctor and waited to try and treat the symptoms naturally at first. Soups, tea, broths and herbal mixtures treated their health issues completely efficiently! Actually, they used their food instead of medicines.

To sum it up, our complete lifestyle influences our health. Every single cell in the body needs proper nutrition in order to function well, and thus, maintain a strong immune system and stable overall health.

Apparently, these common food allergies are an unpredictable byproduct of various environmental factors, most of which were several decades ago.

Therefore, we should become aware of the everyday threat we are subjected to and struggle to eliminate chemicals and toxins from our food, in order to protect our health.
