Our mornings are usually the same, easy and slow, so we often have no idea what adventure awaits us later that same day!
While she was heading to work one Tuesday morning back in 2015, Robin Strader, from Norman, Oklahoma, was more than thrilled to have a rare encounter with one incredibly cute animal!
At one moment, she noticed something in the middle of the busy highway, and immediately pulled her car. It was a scared donkey!
She went to help the poor animal and immediately called the authorities. Officer Kyle Canaan at Norman Police Department, arrived soon, while Robin has somehow managed to get the donkey off the road.
The woman offered to take Squishy to her home, as they nicknamed her, and she lived a few miles from there, so officer Canaan decided to give the animal a drive-along!
The officer explained that the donkey actually fit inside the vehicle perfectly, adding that he” rolled the window down for it.”
In a Facebook post, the City of Norman, OK Police Department wrote:
“Our officers encounter unexpected things every day while on-duty. This morning, Officer Kyle Canaan responded to a call regarding a donkey on the loose in the 8100 block of 120th Avenue NE. To ensure the safety of the animal, he helped transport the donkey to a nearby home for safe-keeping until its owner could be located. It’s not every day that you see a donkey in the backseat of a police car!”
The rescue donkey seemed to enjoy the ride, and both passengers in the patrol car had fun during the adventure!
The donkey was safely transported to Robin’s home, and Robin even said that she would adopt it, in case there won’t be anyone willing to do it.
However, it turned out that it belonged to Dr. Matt Spaulding, a Norman Chiropractor, and it was actually called Cruz.
Spaulding explained that his donkey was called Squishy, because “ they squished him up in there!”
