Airplane Cleaner Becomes A Captain After 24 Years Of Work

Let’s face it, while we are surrounded by quotes that inspire us to dream big and we will eventually succeed, this is rarely the case. Yet, the story of Mohammed Abubakar will surely convince you to work harder to achieve your goals in life.

After finishing school, this Nigerian man went to Kaduna to enroll in Kaduna Polytechnic, but he was late, so he failed to get the admission.

Yet, when one door closes, another opens.

He didn’t want to be unemployed, and about twenty-four years ago, he started working as an aircraft cleaner.

The money he received there was small, the first wage being as little as 200 Nigerian Naira per day, which equals $0.50, so everyone thought he would give up, but he persisted, so he was employed as the ground staff.

At this post, he learned a lot about the aviation industry, and after a while, he got the chance to become a cabin crew member at an amazing salary.

Later on, he moved to Aero Contractors as a flight attendant. When the company started doing scheduled services, he provided some valuable input which helped them a lot, so the Deputy Managing Director gave him a huge salary.

Despite earning a lot now, he decided to save it and follow his dream. He spoke to the managing director, took his advice and did his best to become a pilot.

As soon as he had enough money, Abubakar supported his way through pilot training in Canada and received his Private Pilot License.

Yet, he ran out of money when he needed his commercial license, but his current employer at the time supported him through the process and helped him receive it. And his hard work, persistence and brilliant attitude paid off.

Eventually, Azman Air, a Nigerian company, gave him the opportunity to work for them as a Pilot.

On July 30, 2018, the company released a statement on Twitter stating,

“He Joined the Aviation industry 24 years ago as Aircraft Cleaner. Today He is getting the Fourth Bar to becoming a CAPTAIN. Congratulations Mohammed Abubakar from all of us @AirAzman”

Congratulations from us too!

Therefore, do not doubt it, keep dreaming, keep believing, and do not quit- and the hard work and persistence will make your dreams come true.
