What Does Your Face Speaks For Your Health

A simple glance at your face in the mirror can tell you a lot about your health. Certain parts of your face can reveal if your organism is affected by any disease or microorganisms.

Eyes

White circles around the iris usually indicate high cholesterol level. High body fat percentage is often manifested through fatty lumps on the eyelids. Falling eyelids sometimes indicate facial paralysis caused by nerve damage, commonly called Bell’s palsy.

Nose

Unevenness -- Scientists cannot thoroughly explain the reasons for this condition, but in cases of sarcoidosis, the organs get scars which causes unevenness of the nose. However, this disease is quite rare and does not affect many people.

Big nose -- Luckily, big noses are less vulnerable to parasites and bacteria, and believe it or not, it is all thanks to the nasal hair. Large noses have more nasal hair, meaning they provide a better protection against bacteria and parasites.

Mouth

Short teeth occur as a result of excessive outpouring of gastric acid, i.e. frequent burping.

Skin

Yellow skin or yellow eye whites indicate side-effects caused by certain medicines, usually heavy medication for diabetes or hypertension.

Wrinkles -- Deep wrinkles often indicate osteoporosis.

Cheeks

Red cheeks indicate skin inflammation or Cushing’s syndrome, a condition characterized by increased cortisol level. This hormone causes the blood vessels to swell, and the swelling is first visible on the cheeks, as they are the most sensitive part of the face.

Purple or blue cheeks indicate low oxygen level in the blood.

Ears

Wrinkles inside the ears -- Health experts explain that diagonal lines inside your ears could indicate heart diseases. A study showed that 10% of the people who have wrinkles inside their ears have clogged arteries.

Hair

Thin hair indicates overactive thyroid, even though it is not quite clear what causes hair loss or hair thinning. Hair loss in women is often caused by iron deficiency, because it contains ferritin, essential for the hair growth.

Facial hair -- One out of twenty women struggle with polycystic ovary syndrome. Facial hair and acne are the most common symptoms. This can also indicate upcoming menopause.

Eyebrow loss is a common sign of poor thyroid function or low thyroxine level, important for the hair follicles.
