When equipped with skills and the right idea in mind, artists easily find their canvas and create art. Yet, some of them are simply more creative than others. One 33-year-old street artist from Marseille, France, chose an old gas tank, and created a breathtaking illusion of a huge sphynx cat!
If you have ever seen some of the incredible works by Tom Brigado Blanco, or Braga last1, you already know that his art has the aim to confuse and deceive the eye.
This time, his sphynx cat is perfectly blended into the middle of a field. When he was done, the gas tank was no longer visible, as it became a 3D painting of a giant, gray sphynx cat hiding in the grass, and looking at a dog whose owner is trying to keep him away.
Optical illusions have always attracted artists, and playing with perspective is the biggest operating force behind any work of art. Artists have always sought new ways and techniques to trick the mind and demand full sensory engagement from the viewers.
Blanco is self-taught, and has been drawing since very young.
Being passionate about street art, he started his career by customizing T-shirts, sneakers, and caps. Over time, people asked him to create artworks for them, and he has worked for various restaurants, businesses, hotels, and theaters.
The 3D magician uses a technique called aerography, usually used to decorate tiles from the Victorian era and in the works of Man ray.
He learned it in 2011 and adapted it to create his own works of art. In this surrealist method, a stencil is no longer used in spray-painting, but it is replaced by a three-dimensional object.
