5-Year-Old Boy's "Up" Photoshoot With 90-Year-Old Great-Grandparents Goes Viral

The crucial role of grandparents in the life of children cannot be denied. As we grow old, grandparents are our super-fun parents, our smiling teachers, our best friends, and confidants.

But have you had the chance to meet your great-grandparents? They are simply the best, I can assure you! The world was fascinated to see the birthday photoshoot of a 5-year old boy and his great- grandparents.

After seeing Pixar’s animated film“Up”, I believe the entire world fell in love with Russell. Everyone wanted to be him, and this dream came true for Elijah Perman for his fifth birthday.

His mother, Rachel Perman, a part-time photographer, told her children that they could celebrate their birthdays with a photoshoot, and Elijah picked the 2009 movie.

Rachel explained:

“Five years ago, I was diagnosed with cancer right after my twins were born, and had fears if I would even get to see their fifth birthday. My oldest was 5 at the time and I hated not knowing if I would get the same time with them that I got with her.”

She is now in remission, and she is happy that she made it to the day of the birthday of her twins, so she wanted to celebrate big, for all of them.

Elijah’s twin sister, Emilee, dressed up as a unicorn posing with a horse. Elijah made the little Russel come to life, wearing every piece of Boy Scout clothing, a backpack, and a bundle of balloons attached to a tiny house.

Yet, what made the photoshoot complete was the presence of their 90-year-old great grandparents, Richard and Caroline Bain, who dressed up as Carl and Ellie!

Rachel added:

“Elijah is very particular, he is borderline addicted to Up and has been for several years. The house with the balloons is the only thing he draws and colors and the only books he wants to get at the library, and the only toy he wanted when we were in Disney World last year.

Inviting [Elijah’s] great grandparents was my idea and a surprise [for] Elijah. He loved that they dressed up! Richard and Caroline were thrilled to participate and loved that I asked them. Grandpa even went to the thrift store to get the jacket.”
