Whenever life gets too burdensome and demands Herculean efforts to make it through the day, nature is our best healing retreat.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could find ourselves in a vast, colorful field then, surrounded by nature only? If this is not an option, the following collection of cute mice hidden amongst the petals of tulips will surely save the day!
British photographer Miles Herbert runs a photography studio Captivelight that holds workshops and animal photography tuition for those interested in capturing “birds of prey, reptiles, frogs and other beasties.”
He explains that harvest mice are the smallest mammals in Europe that have a prehensile tail, used to hang on and balance while climbing, or as an anchor while eating.
Herbert says:
“It’s always a pleasure watching these endearing little creatures as they go about their business. The mice love to eat the stamens and nectar from the flowers and enjoy climbing in and out of the tulips. Watching and photographing them is absolutely fascinating and only slightly addictive.”
He added:
“These harvest mice were photographed in an indoor studio. We provide a service for photographers looking for high impact cute animal pictures, and using a purpose-built studio means that we are not weather dependent. There is also an option to photograph animals outside if the client wishes, our other specialty is frogs!
Nearly all the animals we photograph are captive bred, the mice are bred to release into the wild at a local nature reserve – we prefer to use captive-bred animals rather than disturbing wild populations, and captive-bred animals are more sustainable.”
He and his clients get the opportunity to observe mice as they feast on their treats during sessions, so it’s a win-win situation for all. The colorful flowers are strong enough to support the adorable guests, that can be seen using their long tails for balance.
The tiny critters put a smile on everyone’s face, while they are playfully appearing among the flowers, with their pollen-covered noses and whiskers.
