How Being An Empath Can Lead to Adrenal Fatigue, Insomnia, & Exhaustion

We are always exhausted after riding a bike, jogging or any other physical activity. Well, experts have found that emotional and spiritual exhaustion have a similar effect on our body and mind. This explains why empaths are often tired. Those with empath personality can’t sleep at night.

Empath personality

Empaths are sensitive to other people’s emotions, energy and physical condition. People with an empath personality absorb others’ moods and feelings, and are often introverted. These people experience sensory overload when surrounded by other people.

Empaths and fatigue

Judith Orloff, MD, member of the UCLA psychiatric clinical faculty and author of The Empath’s Survival Guide: Life Strategies for Sensitive People, explains the experiences empaths have. According to Dr. Orloff, being an empath is both a gift and challenge. Empaths find deep compassion for other people, and they always care about people in their surrounding. However, they can’t cope with pessimistic energies.

Empaths are usually exhausted as they absorb all the energies and emotions of people in their surrounding. Mental stress causes insomnia, exhaustion and fatigue.

Learn how to survive!

Dr. Orloff has a few tips for her patients which will hopefully help them feel better:

1. Meditate

Meditation helps your body process the energy you absorb. It will only take you a few minutes. Take deep breaths and rebuild your strength and positivity.

2. Limits are healthy

Empaths can’t say ‘no.’ Well, if you are an empath, you better learn how to say this word in order to protect yourself. Limit the time you spend with negative and stressful people. Spend more time with yourself in order to relieve your mental and physical strain.

3. Protect yourself

You can’t avoid every stressful situation. Visualize a protective shield around you and block the toxic energy. You may find this stupid, but it actually works.

Self-care and self-love

Empaths climb a new mountain every day. This kills their energy and positivity. Don’t forget your meditation, limits and shields. Love yourself first, and take more care of your body and mind.
