You Will Never Have To Scrub a Toilet Again if You Make These DIY Toilet Cleaning Bombs

The proper hygiene of the bathroom is a must in every household.

However, it cannot be achieved easily at times, even though you spend a fortune on expensive toilet cleaners.

Namely, these bathroom cleaners can be high in harmful ingredients, like bleach, which is dangerous for the lungs. The chlorine included in the bleach if combined with any kind of acid, forms a toxic gas.

Moreover, it acts as an irritant and corrosive, destroying everything it comes in direct contact with. Also, these cleaners have between 10% and 50% hydrochloric acid, which if inhaled, is related to irritation of the respiratory tract and kidney damage.

There are even some types which include fragrances, which may lead to headaches, lung irritation or allergic reactions while others also contain hormone disruptors. Therefore, it is wise to avoid such products.

However, we will offer you a way to prepare your own homemade toilet bowl cleaner. This is how to prepare it:

You will need:

  • ½ cup citric acid
  • ½ cup baking soda
  • 25 drops essential oils – you can choose your favorite, but orange and lemon are recommended, as they have strong cleaning properties and provide a pleasant smell
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • water in a spray bottle
  • gallon size zip-top bag
  • mold

Instructions:

You should put all ingredients, except the essential oil in the bag and shake well. The, open it and add 2-3 spritzes of water, close again and knead. Repeat his for 5-7 times. If your bag becomes puffy, you should release the air as it is a result of the combination of citric acid and baking soda.

Knead the mixture in order to become like pie dough, add the essential oils and knead it again. Then, pack it in the molds firmly, and leave them to dry for a couple of days.

After two days, remove them from the molds and put them to dry on some higher place for a couple more days.

Then, place them in a sealed container.

When you need to use them, drop them in the bowl until they cause fizzing, and just use the scrub brush to clean off nicely. Then, flush and your toilet bowl will be clean and fresh!
