The health benefits of apple cider vinegar (ACV) are no secret. ACV has been shown to help with everything from digestive issues to diabetes. The benefits of ACV don’t just stop with internal issues, though.
ACV does all sorts of amazing things because of it’s antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. Here are 8 ways to use ACV that you might not have ever thought of, but are extremely effective.
1. Relieve Dandruff
All you need to do is mix equal parts water and ACV in a spray bottle, and spray your hair after you’ve shampooed and rinsed. Let the mixture sit for 10-15 minutes and then rinse it out. The ACV prevents the fungus that causes dandruff from growing on your scalp.
2. Get Rid of Foot/Body Odor
Because the acid in ACV balances your pH level and removes bacteria, it makes an excellent natural deodorant. All you have to do is soak a few paper towels in ACV, place them in a ziplock bag, and store them in the fridge. Use the towels on your feet, and underarms every morning and every evening to keep bad odors at bay.
3. Heal Sunburn
ACV balances pH levels and reduces inflammation, which is amazing for treating sunburns. Next time you have a bad sunburn, simply add a few tablespoons of ACV to your bathwater and soak in it until your burn is soothed.
4. All-Purpose house cleaner & Deodorizer
You can make a non-toxic, odor-absorbing, antibacterial alternative to typical household cleaners by simply mixing one part apple cider vinegar with one part water.
Filter the mixture into a spray bottle, and get to work! To knock out odors in the house, especially smoky smells, pour ACV into a shallow bowl and place it where the odor is strongest, and leave it for as long as it takes for the smell to vanish.
5. Weed Killer& Fertilizer
ACV is amazing in your garden for not only fertilizing plants, but also for killing weeds. Some plants prefer a little acidity, but too much will kill them. So when it comes to weeds, just spray pure ACV directly on them. To fertilize plants: mix 1 ounce of ACV to 1 gallon of water, and use like you would any other fertilizer spray.
6. Prevent Fleas
ACV works as a pest repellent, even on pets. Just mix 1 part ACV to 1 part water, and rub onto pet’s fur. Start with a very small area to make sure that your pet isn’t allergic.
7. Treat Bug Bites
Applying ACV directly to an itchy bug bite reduces the inflammation, and soothes the itch. ACV is also a natural antiseptic, which will prevent infections
8. Natural Energy Drink
For a natural boost, simply mix 2 teaspoons of ACV with 2 cups of water. ACV contains potassium and enzymes that can help rocket you into a higher gear, without all of the junk that is in traditional energy drinks.
