“A Guide to Homemade Coconut Oil Beauty Products” on Health Perch
Coconut oil serious is some kind of miracle substance. Not only is it incredibly good for you and one of the most powerful substances out there for losing weight, but it’s also incredibly versatile and can be used for all kinds of makeshift health and beauty products.
Save money, get great hair, get slimmer and see your skin become healthy and vibrant. It’s all possible with a little coconut oil!
To recap, here is how to use coconut oil to transform your health and beauty regime.
For Acne
Coconut oil can be used to treat acne. Just melt it, add some tea tree oil and then mix it into a blend. From here, you can then use it via a lip balm tube. Just use an eyedropper to fill one tube and store the tube in the fridge so it keeps its consistency.
As Deodorant
Believe it or not, you can actually use coconut oil as a natural deodorant! All out of spray? This might just be the solution! Take coconut oil, baking soda, aprowroot powder, bentonite clay and essential oil, mix them together and store the mixture in a jar for when you need it.
Eyeliner
Yup, you can make eyeliner from coconut oil too! Mix it with Aloe Vera gel, activated charcoal or a little cocoa powder. The latter two ingredients of course provide the color, while the first two give the consistency you need. Store in an air tight container and apply with something narrow.
Shaving Cream
You can actually use coconut oil as it is and it works as a shaving cream. To go a little further though, try coconut oil with solid shea butter, sweet almond oil and some essential oil. It’s fragrant, frothy and kind to the skin.
Sunscreen
How did cavement protect themselves from the sun before factor 40? Not like this… but still, it works! Take coconut oil, shea butter, beeswax, zinc oxide, vitamin e oil and essential oil. Mix and cool and you have your sunscreen!
Toothpaste
Coconut oil + baking soda + mint oil + fine sea salt will do this one! The coconut oil and baking soda have the ideal consistency when mixed together, the mint oil will freshen your breath (you can also just use crushed mint) and the fine sea salt will kill bacteria.
You can also use coconut oil for ‘oil pulling’ which basically means swilling it around your mouth to kill bacteria. Studies show it works and it’s kinder to your teeth than a mouthwash.
Body Butter
Mix coconut oil, vitamin e oil and essential oil, mix with a high speed electric whisk and store in a sealed glass somewhere. It will feel wonderful on the skin but also do it a lot of good. It’s best when used to give and receive massages and is less likely to irritate than some synthetic alternative products!
