Human body is about 60 percent water. You can live up to 3 weeks without food, but people cannot live more than three days without water.
This fact does not come as a surprise, because water takes part in many vital functions in our bodies; it flushes out toxins and eases digestion and metabolism of vitamins and minerals.
Did you know that cold and warm water provide different health benefits?
We all know that drinking plenty of water is quite essential, but you probably cannot imagine that the temperature of your water provides additional benefits.
Cold Water
-- Burns more calories. Cold water stimulates the body to restore normal body temperature. Higher body temperature stimulates metabolism and aids in burning calories.
-- Cold water reduces body temperature. It prevents overheating, especially during workout or hot weather. Overheating hinders heart function and dilates blood vessels. Cold water decreases body temperature and prevents dehydration which occurs as a result of excessive sweating.
-- Cold water helps you wake up a lot easier. If you are sleepy and lethargic, drink a glass of cold water. It will stimulate your heart function and the secretion of adrenalin.
Warm Water
According to Ayirveda, an ancient Indian medicine, warm water stimulates digestion, reduces waste products and improves overall health. Some believe that warm water is healthier than cold water. Here is why:
-- Relieves pain ranging from headache, upset stomach and PMS without any painkillers. It provides an instant soothing effect and relaxes your muscles and nerves.
-- Prevents premature aging. Warm water is more efficient in the elimination of accumulated toxins from the body. This makes your skin softer and provides a healthy skin complexion. It also stimulates the secretion of collagen and elastin, and thus reduces wrinkles.
-- Warm water regulates bowel movement, prevents constipation and relieves bloating, flatulence and stomach ache. It helps degrading food into small particles, enabling them to pass through your gastrointestinal tract a lot easier.
-- Improves digestion. Cold water thickens fat, making them hard to digest. Warm water, on the other hand, eases food degradation, and the nutrients are a lot easier to absorb.
