Turmeric milk is a traditional Indian drink. According to Ayurveda, it is a bedtime drink, pretty similar to warm milk that is commonly consumed before bedtime. You do not like warm milk?
Well, do not worry, turmeric milk is much more delicious than regular warm milk. It provides an amazing warming effect, helping you fall asleep more easily.
We also suggest that you add some ginger to boost its anti-inflammatory properties, which is especially great for digestion. It is up to you to decide whether you will add some honey or not, but adding honey will not only sweeten your milk, but it will also enhance its healing properties.
Add in some coconut milk, as it is loaded with healthy fats, lauric acid, antimicrobial lipids, capric acid, which provide strong antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties.
Turmeric is packed with beneficial healing properties, and it has proven to:
- relieve arthritis pain, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties

Researchers have closely investigated the ability of curcumin to fight and prevent cancer. It destroys cancer cells in laboratory condition. Studies involving laboratory animals have shown that curcumin can prevent and inhibit growth of skin, breast, liver, forestomach, duodenal, and colon cancer.
Curcumin has strong anti-angiogenic properties. It slows formation of new blood vessels in tumors, causing asphyxiation of tumors and hindering tumor growth and metastasis.
Turmeric milk -- Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups coconut milk (or regular milk) -- where to find
- 1 tsp turmeric -- where to find
- 1/4 tsp black pepper (enchances absorption of turmeric)
- ginger, sliced (1 piece)
- raw honey, to taste -- where to find
Note: Be especially careful if you have an ulcerative intestinal problems, because black pepper can worsen your condition. It can even make small cuts in intestine of patients diagnosed with Chron’s disease.
Preparation:
1. Add all the ingredients in a saucepan, and keep the honey aside. Whisk so everything can combine well.
2. Cook on medium heat until the mixture starts bubbling.
3. Turn the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes to enhance flavors.
4. Strain any ginger slices and add in honey. Stir well.
You will get about 2 servings, so make sure you share some love.
Here is an easy way to keep some on hand and ease the whole procedure:
Take a small jar and add in:
- 3 tbsp turmeric
- 2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp ginger powder
Put the lid on and shake.
Use: Stir in a teaspoon of the powder mixture in a cup of milk.
