Most people use plastic containers daily to store the remaining food in the refrigerator, to take meals at work, etc. However, the way they clean isn’t very simple. The unpleasant odors and grease remain, but they can still be removed in several ways.
Wash them as soon as possible after having used them. It is best to wash with warm water and bleach, while the fat from food hasn’t stuck on them yet.
Wash with vinegar -- After you wash off with bleach and hot water, pour vinegar and let it stay that way for at least 3 minutes. Wash again and let it dry.
Pour a little salt on them – If you leave the dishes to wash them later, sprinkle a little salt to break down grease and odors until the time comes for washing.
Fill them with newspapers – Put some old newspapers in plastic containers after having washed them.
Use baking soda -- Baking soda is a great tool for cleaning and removing unpleasant odors. Mix it with a little water to make a thick paste, which will help you properly wash off the plastic containers. Leave them for at least one day, and then rinse thoroughly. Repeat this process until the smell has completely disappeared.
