The world can be a tough and dangerous place. It is not as though as we intentionally try to live more dangerous, it just kind of… happens.
We have seen more than enough natural disasters over the past decade just to realize that none of us is immune and Mother Nature is not as selective. There are numerous other crazy-scary events which occur not to be natural. Sickness, nuclear meltdowns, civil unrest, war – all these things are a part of our sphere of reality.
Rather than feeling fear when you thought of these frightening and disruptive events, you prepare! This is not unintentionally.
Being prepared must be intentional and purposeful. It does not happen by chance and it does not happen without even a little bit of work coupled with resources, thought and time. What about the payback? Well, the payback is that if a sometimes disaster comes along you will be ready and able to take care of your family and yourself. It is your own life.
Think about the health needs of your family, and ask yourself the following questions…
1. What would you do if one of your children is experiencing an asthma attack and you could not find the inhaler?
2. What would you do if someone in your family has developed a certain bacterial infection and there is no medical help available?
3. What would you do in case of a really bad toothache and you do not have an access to a dentist?
4. How would you handle the anxiety and stress associated with some natural disaster, economic crisis or man-made disaster?
All these questions bring us to today’s article topic. We are about to present a big list of essential oils which can help you in, sort of, survival situations, together long with suggested uses.
Essential oils for health and survival
Lavender:
This is practically the Swiss Army knife of essential oils. It relieve insomnia, reduces stress, heals cuts bug bites, bruises, sunburn, and burns. It is also a powerful antihistamine, sleep deprivation, inflammation, and gets rid of lice. It is great for soothing earache, skin irritations and depression. Lavender is the oil which you have in your survival kit. As a matter of fact, we would keep two bottles of it.
Lemon:
Lemon is well known for its cleansing properties. You just need to add a few lemon drops in some water in order to purify it (this was suggested in a seminar I attended but I have no proof, however, in dire circumstance, I would do it). Lemon is great for treating intestinal parasites; it dissolves petrochemicals in your body.
This amazing fruit is also very effective when it comes to dealing with colds and flu, improves the digestive system and liver’s work, treats gout, sore throat and is great and antiseptic.
Peppermint:
This plant is effective against digestive issues, menstrual problems, allergies, nausea, and it can help when it comes to increasing alertness, reducing fever, focusing and oxygen absorption. Lemon is great for headaches and muscle aches as well. It has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and you can use it for heartburn, colds, colic and shock.
Oregano:
Oregano is effective for treating yeast and bacterial infections, relieves joint and back pain, inflammation, flu and cold, kills skin tags and warts and is great against athlete’s foot. This spice is also great for gastrointestinal health.
