Ernestine Shepherd is a proof that you are never too old to do something.
Recently, she entered the eighth decade of life, and she is the oldest female bodybuilder.
If you have seen the meme which shows two elderly ladies, one constrained to a wheelchair, probably takings lots of medications, and the other happy, standing, and fit, then you should know that it features Ernestine Shepherd, who is a woman different from most elders.
She is an inspiring woman who recently celebrated her 80th birthday, and is a competitive female bodybuilder, and even holds a record in the Guinness Book of World Records!
Shepherds was born on June 16th, 1936. However, she didn’t exercise since she was young. In fact, she picked up this habit much later in life, after the death of her sister from a brain aneurysm.
Initially, Shepherds gave up caring about her wellbeing and health, but as soon as she developed high blood pressure, she decided that she must do something for her health.
Nowadays, she has completely different, healthy daily routines. She wakes up at 3 am, follows a calorie-controlled diet of boiled egg whites, chicken, vegetables, and lots of water, and runs about 80 miles (130km) per week.
She states that she believes the secret to success is to ‘never give up.’ The video above shows the inspirational story of this incredible woman.
