The dilemma whether it is better to wear or not to wear a bra while sleeping lasts for ages, and it is often associated with both, myths, and reasonable facts, so women are simply left to decide for themselves which option is more comfortable for them.
However, we will consider both, pros and cons and explain which of the facts you know are real.
Some women believe that wearing a bra while sleeping is not a good option as the bra makes them feel constricted, leaves marks on your body and may clog the lymph nodes and thus raises the risk of development of breast cancer.
Yet, other women suggest that the wearing of a bra all the time prevents breasts from sagging.
So, do you know which of these claims are true?
According to experts, all these claims are just a myth. From a medical point of view, the function of the lymph nodes in the underarms is to naturally filter, or drain the breast of lymph fluid, as well as to prevent the system of infections, cancer cells, and foreign material.
It is not scientifically shown that the bra-wearing during sleeping blocks the pathways of the lymph nodes, therefore, this practice will not increase the breast cancer risk.
Regarding the second point of view, that this will prevent breasts from sagging, we can again state that science does not confirm it. Breasts sag as a result of genetics, age, pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
Additionally, women with a bra cup size C and bigger should choose a soft – cup style, free of hardware or much fasteners, in order to prevent sagging. On the other hand, in the case of a smaller bra size, a woman will not benefit from wearing a bra during the night.
Hence, wearing a bra during the night does not raise the risk of breast cancer, and does not prevent sagging either.
Therefore, it is up to you to decide whether you prefer to use or remove your bra at night. Women with tender and sensitive breasts often use bras in order to get the support they need.
On the other hand, in the case of women who sweat a lot, have sensitive skin and often have rashes issues, bras may cause discomfort and pain.
Yet, remember to choose well-fitted, of natural fiber, and a soft cupped bra, which will be pleasant on your skin, and support your breasts properly.
