If you have a pet, ticks and fleas are a common problem for you, and commercial medications are simply full of toxic ingredients. Yet, you can effectively repel fleas and ticks with the use of the following essential oils:
Lavender Flea Repellent
In a spray bottle, mix some distilled water and 20 drops of lavender essential oil, and spray on the fur of your pet. Yet, make sure you spray away from the mouth, eyes, and private areas. If it does not like the spray, just spray it on your hands, and pet the animal.
Tick Repellent for Dogs
In a 1-oz bottle, mix 10 drops of palo santo essential oil with 50 drops of a carrier oil (fractionated coconut oil is a good choice). Then, rub this spray into the dog’s fur on every two days in the high tick season. Moreover, you can remove ticks with the help of palo santo essential oil.
Mice
The appearance of mice is always an unpleasant issue in the home, as mice can cause great damage to the food reserves and the entire home. Yet, the use of poison ca harm you and your family, even if applied to some places out of reach.
Cats are natural hunters of mice. Yet, there is also a natural way to get rid of mice in the house.
Essential Oils for mice
You can effectively deter mice if you apply peppermint, eucalyptus, or spearmint essential oil on cotton balls, and place them in various places in the house, drawers, closets, near the doors, balcony, and the like.
Repel Cockroaches
In a spray bottle, mix 10 drops of peppermint essential oil, ½ a cup of water, and 5 drops of cypress essential oil. Then, spray it on places where cockroaches appear in the home, under the sink, on cupboards.
Furthermore, you can drop a bit of lemongrass, peppermint essential oil, or citronella on cotton balls, and place them on areas where cockroaches appear.
Keep Flies Away
If you keep a bowl of cloves on prominent places in the home, you will effectively keep them at bay as they hate cloves. You can also sprinkle essential oil such as lavender, eucalyptus, or peppermint onto the cloves.
Ant and Spider Repellent
Essential oils are also of great help during the spring, when spiders and ants attack our homes. You can mix some lavender essential oil, vinegar, and peppermint essential oil in a spray bottle, and spray on windows and doors.
- 3 drops of lavender essential oil
- ½ cup of filtered water
- ½ cup of vinegar
- 3 drops of peppermint essential oil
It is best to choose a glass spray bottle; as essential oils can damage plastic over time.
