I love nature when it is peaceful, quiet, warm, and wet. Oops, wait- I just described the atmosphere…

What I cannot describe, however, is this charming photo, unless you see it for yourself.

Tanja Brandt, a German photographer, managed to capture a small owl while it was hiding under a mushroom to avoid the rain, and the result is just adorable!

The tiny owl believed the mushroom is a suitable shelter to protect him from the pouring rain, and Tanja was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. She took several photos and this one went viral.

The owl is called Poldi and is Tanja’s pet. He is 1.5 years old, and according to Brandt, he was the last of seven owls to hatch, but his strong desire for life helped him to crack out of his egg, and emerge into this world.

He was born much smaller than the rest, and he is still tiny and delicate.

After Tanja posted the cute adorable photo online, it took the internet by storm.

Brandt has been passionate about animals since a very young age.

“When I was little, I found every sort of pet and then hid it from my parents. I love the beauty, power, loyalty, courage, and friendship of animals. Many people could learn from them.”

Poldi is not only pet, as she also has a Harris Hawk named Phönix, a Malinois shepherd named Ingo, a Weissgesichtseule named Gandalf, and a snow owl named Uschi.

Poldi and Ingo are best friends, with Ingo being Poldi’s protector, as Tanja claims that he “doesn’t know how to live free.”

Tanja is an animal and wildlife photographer, and she often photographs her pets too.

“I am always alone with my animals and my cam. I have no subjects in front of the camera and sometimes, it’s a little bit hard, especially with the Harris Hawks, because I have big lens and have to go far away.”

“I think my animals like to be photographed. Why? Because I am always outside with my camera and with my animals. So we get to walk together, have fun, go on adventures, have little breaks…

We take some pictures and after the animals can play again as we keep going. I know my animals very well and I can see their state of mind. If I go out with just one of my animals, the other gets antsy and wants to be with us. We have a lot of fun together.”
