On the quest for happiness, we often end up making some mistakes we believe are harmless, but eventually tear us down. No matter how inspired and happy you are to share the good or shocking news with the rest of the world, remember that it might not be wise to overshare.
Loose lips sink ships. Treat your life as sacred if you want to protect it.
It might not be easy to keep your personal life private, as people are genuinely interested in other people’s lives these days. Everyone asks about work, our family, our relationship, our career and goals, our pets, our finances..it is even rude!
This is the age of envy, and people have felt the pain at the sight of another’s good fortune, stirred by “those who have what we ought to have”, as Aristotle defined it.
On the other hand, things become even more challenging and frustrating when you are not quite where you want to be yet.
Believe me, the fewer details of your life you share with others, the less you care about what they think. When your personal life is on display, they will be judgmental, and you will become defensive.
Some things should be kept personal, and the more you share them with others, the more control you give them over your life. You can choose to confide in a few people you really trust, but you should not let everyone know what is going on in your life.
You do not owe others anything. Nothing good will ever come out of everyone knowing every little detail of your life.
We are all surrounded by toxic people who heal their own wounds by spreading negative energy. These people would like to see you fall, and they would love to know your weaknesses, to use them.
They might not do it right away, but eventually, they will use any information they deem valuable to turn others against you.
Always solve the problem with the person you have it with, as oversharing will only lead to more turmoil between you two. Stop and think before you start speaking, and you will thank me for it later.
Never spread your dirty laundry all over town, as you never know whom it might get around to and you might cause troubles.
Be especially careful before you tell someone things about your love life, your relationships or marriage. Instead, give yourself time to cool down. If you don’t, people will create a negative image of your partner, seeing only one side of things, and you will regret it later.
When it comes to finances, no one except your family should be informed of it. Many of those close to you might be jealous of your profits, or happy that you are struggling with money.
Remember, you can never be too careful about people. Unfortunately, this is the world we live in.
Try to live life to the fullest, without bothering what other people think of your choices in life, but make sure you always stay away from negativity and not give everyone the privilege of knowing every little detail about you.
