Potatoes are used in every part of the world. You can find them in every home. Potatoes are a primary food on our menu. Do you know the difference between types of potatoes?
We all know what a potato should look like; have you ever noticed that some of them are green? Their green color comes from chlorophyll.
You should avoid using green potatoes because they are extremely dangerous to our health. Scientists have found that green potatoes are loaded with solanine, a toxic chemical that leads to diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, headaches, and many other ailments.
Large amounts of chlorophyll give these potatoes their color; chlorophyll is actually harmless to our health. Chlorophyll is only what indicates the amount of solanine in green potatoes.
Alexander Pavlista, a professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, explained that a man who weighs 100 pounds would have to eat about 16 ounces of green potatoes to feel sick.
The professor also added that green potatoes should be taken off of the market. These potatoes should only be stored in dim and cool environments in order to prevent the production of solanine. He instructs removing any green parts before you consume a potato.
If a green potato taste bitter, do not consume it. They are not a health-friendly food; you’re better off avoiding the health risk.
