Being able to ask for help and fight for your life is not something only humans can do. In fact, animals are often even more skillful than us!
In Brazil, after they completed a routine traffic operation, highway patrol officers Borges and Mateus were called upon to assist with a rather different matter.
When they returned to their patrol vehicle, they saw there was a sweet little dog inside! It had hopped inside the car and was so happy to see them!
Being left on the roadway, the puppy knew that the chances were low that he would survive out there all alone.
Officials said:
” The two policemen… tried to get him out of the vehicle. But he was crying desperately as if he were going to be abandoned again. They were surprised. He cried a lot. [He] appeared to have been abandoned on the side of the highway.”
They even filmed this touching moment.
In the video, the excited dog can be seen content that he finally found some warm-hearted humans who are willing to help him.

As one of the police officers stroke him, he whimpers and puts his ears back. While no one knows who or when left the dog there, he was clearly in need of help and some water.
Fortunately, these two men understood his call for help, and they decided to give him a lift back to their station. There, one of the officers, Corporal Maurício, decided to offer the dog a permanent home, and to welcome him in his family!
Officials wrote:
“[He] decided to adopt him, which made his children happy. His name is Rex!”
It was later reported that Rex has become a loving member of the family. Rex, we wish you a long and happy life!
