Cat Learns To Open Shower Door To ‘Free’ Injured Brother From Bed Rest

Mona Lisa and Jean Ralphio have the most incredible story to share. Kitties always have the craziest stories.

Gabrielle Zaffiro McLemore and her husband enjoyed their walk by the Pennsylvania SPCA and suddenly, a cute kitty caught their attention. The couple hadn’t made any adoption plans as they had two cats at home. But, Jean Ralphio was special.

He had to join their little family. That’s not all. The beautiful cat had a sister, Mona Lisa. The decision was made and the couple took the cats home.

Jean Ralphip and Mona Lisa have been with the family for a year. Adopting them was the best decision the couple has ever made.

“Jean Ralphio and Mona Lisa are thick as thieves,” McLemore said. “Together they are very playful and affectionate. They take turns grooming each other and are often found snuggled up together sleeping. They are never far from each other.”

The cute brother broke his hip and vets did a little surgery to get that fixed. His owners had to do something to protect him from reinjuring himself. Jean Ralphio was quarantined in the bathroom. Mona Lisa didn’t like any of this.

“When we keep them apart she meows through the door and tries to break in,” the owner said. “She’s been a little more needy for cuddles with us [since] being separated from Jean Ralphio.”

Jean Ralphio was in quarantine, but he somehow managed to leave the bathroom. Gabrielle took him back to the shower and that’s when they noticed that Mona Lisa had somehow opened the bathroom door and the shower. The cutie wanted to be close to her brother.

“We knew that she would test closed doors to see if they were latched all the way previous to this, but I didn’t think much of it,” McLemore said. “The fact that she could open up a sliding shower door was a bit more of a surprise — especially that she’d go so far as to do both!”

So, Mona Lisa wanted to hang out with her brother. Well, she also wanted to steal his food and use his litter box.

Gabrielle spends a lot of time with her cats in the bathroom. Someone had to supervise Mona Lisa and her brother.

“During that time she still stole his food and used his litter box, but also just hung out and spent some time grooming each other,” McLemore said. “It was really sweet and you could tell it cheered him up a bit. I think he’s been distressed to be away from her.”

Well, that’s how brothers and sisters do things. Mona Lisa will keep breaking in the bathroom. She just likes to hang out with her ginger brother.
