Blacknose Sheep Look Just Like Stuffed Animals And Make Great Pets

Animals are the cutest creatures on Earth, and lambs are simply adorable, as they resemble stuffed animals! They are social, smart, and incredibly cute!

However, believe it or not, they can become even cuter! Meet the Valais Blacknose sheep, the lovable animals that will charm you!

These sheep originate from the Valais region in Switzerland and are domesticated. These sheep spend half of the year in the mountains and come down in the valleys during the winter.

Historical Swiss documents indicate that the breed dates back to the 15th century, and some experts even maintain that the species was established as far back as 5000 BC.

Yet, Valais Blacknose sheep were officially recognized as unique in the 1960s. These sweet sheep have charming markings on their black faces and ears, black patches on the knees, feet, and hocks, and long spiral horns.

They are bred for their wool and meat.

They are very friendly, so people love them too!

After seeing photos of them, you’ll understand why they are dubbed “the cutest sheep in the world”

The average diameter of their fiber is 39 microns, with a staple length of 100mm or more.

The annual produce ranges to about 4 kilograms per head.

Being coarse, their wool is suitable for felting, bedding, and carpets. They need to be sheared twice annually to maintain a healthy coat.

They need room to graze and socialize, but they are easily tamed, due to their calm nature.

One New Zealand breeder said that they often follow hikers around the Alps, while another added that blacknose sheep are “typically placid and docile … almost dog-like.”
