Do you have any best friends? Are you still really close? Some friendship change over the years, and college pushes people to different sides. It’s later followed by numerous responsibilities, work positions, and family. People move to cities, and some even forget their childhood friends.
Well, these two friends didn’t give up on their friendship, and even built a tiny town. What’s their top goal? Grow old together.
The small town
Four couples have been best friends for two decades. However, they couldn’t see each other that often, and did their best to live closer to each other. Environmental-friendly methods were pretty much everything they were interested in. So, the couples took all their money and built a town near the Llano River outside of Austin, Texas.
The cabins in the Llano Exit Strategy cost $40,000 each. Matt Garcia designed the cabins, and made sure they are efficient and cost-effective. The cabins have slanted roofs, reflective walls, insulated windows and water barrels (5,000 gallons).
The main plan of this group involves retiring to their town.
Take care of your friendships
How to keep your friends around forever? Here are three tips:
1. Be honest
You can’t expect your friendship to last forever if it’s built on falsehood. Be honest about everything, including your past, opinions and future goals. Don’t agree to things just to fit in the crowd. Be honest and loud about it in order to avoid misunderstandings.
2. Make up after arguments
Disagreements are common in every friendship. You know your friends’ strength and weakness. Don’t take advantage of that. Learn how to say sorry when you have to, and forgive others.
3. Grace
Show grace as much as possible. Change your expectations to lessen the pressure your friends feel. Do good things for others, even when they don’t deserve that. Forgive others before they say sorry. We all need compassion.
Final words
Friendship is such a noble gift, and some people would do anything in this world to have their own friends. Having a best friend is a blessing, so you better take more care of your close friends. They deserve your respect and you deserve to be respected. Don’t forget that.
Friends are always here when you need them, in good or bad and even when everything falls apart. Would you build a town to grow old with your friends?
