Hero Dog Uses A Rope Toy To Rescue His Sister From Swimming Pool

Footage shows the way one Labrador retriever manages to rescue his sister after she fell into a swimming pool.

Dogs are our best friends for a reason. For thousands of reasons, to be honest. They are funny, playful, caring, and intelligent.

Footage recorded by Aaron Tucker, a retired firefighter-paramedic from Daytona Beach, Florida, shows the way one dog manages to save his sister after falling in the swimming pool, by throwing her the end of a rope chew toy.

Holding onto one end of the rope with his jaws, and the sister onto the other, he manages to take her out of the water.

  • Aaron Tucker, a retired firefighter paramedic, watches as the Labrador Retriever throws a rope chew toy to his sister in an attempt to save her

  • In the footage, the pair of dogs can be seen near the edge of the pool before one of them falls in and is unable to get out

The clip, which was shared online on September 27, shows the two dogs standing nearby the pool when suddenly, one of them falls in.

Next, the pooch finds an orange chew toy and passes it to his sister in the water, after she tries desperately to bite onto it.

When she loses the grip, the dog gives another try and throws it once again.

Mr. Tucker commentates:

“You’re going to grab this thing and then I’m going to pull you out.”

When the dog finally manages to pull out his sister, Mr. Tucker jokes that she is very heavy and has to go on a diet.

“There you go, you are safe!”

  • The pooch throws the rope to his sister again while she desperately tries to bite down on it

  • He eventually manages to save her and bring her back onto dry land

Mr. Tucker runs the dog training business Florida K9. He is a cadaver K9 handler and instructs tactical medics and emergency medical responders how to deal with dogs.

He was a guest speaker at the SOMA convention in Tampa in 2010, speaking on the subject of K9 emergency medicine.

He has been also awarded by the U.S. State Department for his contribution to the creation of a K9 program in Kabul, Afghanistan in 2013.

UK’s Oldest Person With Down’s Syndrome Dies Aged 78 After Being Told He Wouldn’t Live Past 12

Although doctors informed his family that he would live only 12 years, the oldest person with Down’s Syndrome in Britain died this September, at the age of 78.

Not so long ago, doctors lacked knowledge and training for patients born with Down Syndrome, and the awareness for this condition was dramatically lower. This often had terrible consequences, and apart from being discriminated against and marked as outcasts in the society, these people were also treated inadequately.

Fortunately, things have changed a lot in the past several decades, and nowadays, these individuals can freely enjoy their lives until old age.

This September, the oldest person with Down Syndrome in the UK died at the age of 78, even though doctors initially believed he would only live for 12 years.

Robin Smith was a resident of Kettering in Northamptonshire, and last year, when he turned 78 on October 9, he became the new record holder as the oldest living Britain’s person with Down Syndrome.

He defeated the odds, even though his family, after his birth in 1941, was told that he would live no more than 12 years.

Fortunately, he lived a pleasant, full life and was a huge fan of Cliff Richard and Elvis Presley.

  • Robin Smith passed away on September 27 at Northleigh Residential Home in Kettering, where he had lived since 1986

  • Smith set a new record as the oldest living person with Down’s Syndrome in the UK last October when he turned 78

Sadly, he passed away on September 27 at Northleigh Residential Home in Kettering, which was his home since 1986. His numerous family and friends paid tributes, describing him as a “beautiful soul” with an unforgettable laugh.

The employees at the care home said that Mr. Smith, a big lover of yoga and aerobics, ‘lit up a room with his twinkly eyes and cheeky smile’.

His brother, Ian Smith, said that he spent 34 years at Northleigh and this was his happiest place, spending his time with amazing staff and residents. Therefore, he added:

“To all the staff I would like to say a massive thank you for their kindness and amazing care and Robin clearly adored them all.”

Staff at Northleigh Residential Home planned to celebrate Mr. Smith’s life at a ‘night to remember’ party on Friday, the day which would have been Robin’s 79th birthday. They served up his favorite cake and snacks and shared their favorite memories of Robin.

Billy Fulcher who worked as a support worker at the care home, said:

“Robin was the legend of Northleigh. I was so happy to work with such a caring and special individual. Robin was more than a resident to me. He became part of my family. He touched everyone’s heart in that way. I take great pleasure in knowing I was part of his life.

He had such a beautiful soul and he had a laugh I will never forget. He lit up a room with his twinkly eyes and cheeky smile and no one that met him could resist adoring him.”

At his last birthday party, everyone said that he is such an ”amazing man”, and he explained that he believes it was crucial to have an active lifestyle and keep yourself as busy as possible.

He enjoyed dancing, was passionate about yoga, and was also a big fan of bingo, dancing, and horse betting. Robin also loved watching his favorite soaps on TV and eating Weetabix and cheesecake.

He grew up in St Margaret’s Avenue in Rushden with his parents, Ivy and Sid, and his two older siblings, Elisabeth and Lain.

The next record holder is Georgie Wildgust, after turning 78 in August. His case is similar to Robin’s, as doctors did not expect him to live over the age of 10.

He is retired and lives at Watcombe Circus care home in Carrington, Nottingham, and has an active social life, surrounded by family and friends.

  • Mr. Smith loved yoga, dancing, and aerobics

  • Staff at his care home celebrated his life on Friday, which would have been his 79th birthday

  • Friends and family described him as a ‘beautiful soul’ with an unforgettable laugh

  • Mr. Smith grew up in St Margaret’s Avenue in Rushden with his parents and two siblings

The life expectancy for people with Down Syndrome was much lower in the 1940s, while nowadays, it is between 50 and 60.

A Down’s Syndrome Association spokesperson explains:

“Thanks to medical advances and the care and love of those around them, the average life expectancy for people with Down’s syndrome is now between 50 and 60 years, with a small number of people living into their seventies and beyond.”

Things were much different at the time Mr. Smith was a child, though.

Often, children born with the syndrome were abandoned or even killed. A lot of them were sent to institutions where their condition and other related conditions, such as heart diseases, were not appropriately treated. As a consequence, many of them died.

In the early years of the 20th century, the eugenics movement started, and campaigns for sterilization of people with Down Syndrome spread throughout the world.

The Eugenics Education Society was founded in Britain in 1907 and it fought to sterilize and restrict the marriages ‘for the weak’ to prevent the perceived ‘degeneration of Britain’s population’.

In 1908, Sir James Crichton-Brown recommended that people with learning disabilities and mental illnesses should be sterilized and Sir Winston Churchill supported the act.

Later, in 1931, a bill for the compulsory sterilization of certain categories of ‘mental patient’ was proposed in Parliament by Labour MP Archibald Church.

It was never implemented, yet, forced sterilizations were carried out under coercion throughout the entire country.

After World War 2 ended, two years after Mr. Smith was born, the idea of ‘racial hygiene’ started losing its popularity, but many notable people continued to support the theories of eugenics, including campaigner Marie Stopes.

Fat Rat Is Freed By Firefighters After Getting Stuck In A Manhole

Firefighters rescue a rat stuck in a manhole cover a week ago in Germany- Out of fear, the rodent attempted to bit one of his rescuers

Being a firefighter is an extremely responsible job, and it does not include fighting fires only. These brave and determined people are prepared to help whenever someone has gotten into trouble.

About a week ago, in Germany, a fire brigade of volunteers saved a rat stuck in a hole in a manhole cover. They arrived in Steubenstrasse in Bad Kreuznach, Rhineland-Palatinate around 4.45pm.

When they tried to rescue him, the rodent bit into the gloves of one of his rescuers, and thus hurt his tooth and it started to bleed.

  • About a week ago, a volunteer fire brigade rescued a rat stuck in a manhole cover in Bad Kreuznach, Rhineland-Palatinate

The rescuers had to lift the manhole cover and pushed the rodent from below with the help of a wooden wedge. The dramatic rescue lasted less than an hour, and the rat fell into an animal rescue box which was put under the cover.

The rodent was then taken to the vet, where it has been fed and given some medicine to ease the pain and calm him.

After the rescue mission, the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Bad Kreuznach volunteer fire brigade posted a photo of the rescue to their Facebook page, and locals expressed their gratitude for the “kindness and compassion” of the firefighters.

  • In February 2019, nine firefighters rescued a distressed rat, stuck in a drain cover, in Bensheim, Germany

Last year, in February 2019, a fat rodent was also spotted stuck in a drain cover in Bensheim, Germany, and nine firefighters had to make an effort to save him. When they arrived at the scene, they saw the unlucky animal squirming and crying in the cover, making desperate efforts to free itself.

One of the firefighters used an animal capture noose to hold the rat firmly as the others lifted the cover with crowbars. They eventually managed to free the poor rodent by wedging the manhole cover and pushing the rat through.

Mother And Her One-Year-Old Son Show Off Their Stunning ‘Swirled’ Eyes

One 35-year-old mother and her son were born with a rare condition that left them with stunning blue and black irises.

We are all unique in our own way, and it just adds to the beauty of humankind. Yet, sometimes, it is not easy to be different. This is what one remarkable 35-year-old influencer is trying to raise awareness for, by speaking out loud about a rare condition that runs in her family.

Namely, this mother and her son are in the center of attention on social media due to the magnificent color of their eyes, which is both blue and black.

Elizabeth Tyler and her one-year-old son Liam Mexus have a condition called heterochromia iridum, which results in them having two different colors in the same iris.

The blue and brown swirls in their eyes are simply enchanting!

Yet, even though they have the same condition, it has not affected them in the same way.

Namely, Elizabeth, a business owner and influencer from Ohio, has intense deep blue and brown-black in both her eyes and Liam has one blue eye and his second eye has a shade of both blue and black color.

  • People fell in love with Ohio mom Elizabeth Tyler and her son Liam Mexus due to their incredible eyes, which are swirled with two colors

  • They were born with a condition known as heterochromia iridum, which causes the iris to form two different colors. In their case, it was blue and black-brown

  • The condition affects the mother and son differently

The condition is very rare, spread among only 200 000 people in the U.S., and it is even less common to be passed on the next generations. Regardless, Elizabeth and Liam are not the only ones in the family with this rare condition – her father and siblings have the same condition since birth.

According to medical experts, the condition does not negatively affect the person in any way, but it may be a sign that the person has another condition, such as piebaldism, which causes a lack of pigment in the hair or skin.

Heterochromia iridum is more often found in animals, particularly white dogs and cats.

Anyway, Elizabeth is very fond of the fact that the rare condition makes her and her son very unique, explaining that she wants to set an example for the others that it is “okay to be different”.

She says:

“I love my eyes because they are unique. It’s okay to be different.”

  • The condition is very rarely passed down within a family

  • Both irises of Elizabeth are different colors, while Liam has one blue eye and one eye that is swirled with blue and black

  • Elizabeth explains that her father and siblings were also born with the rare condition

Although she has five children, Liam is the only one that inherited the condition, even though their eyes don’t look exactly the same. Both of her irises have different colors, and her son, on the other side, has one blue eye and the other has black in it, along with blue.

She adds:

“My son also has heterochromia iridum. [But his eyes] are different than mine. He has one blue eye and the other is mostly brown with two blue sections.”

She regularly posts photos of herself and her children on social media, and curious followers often ask her questions about her condition.

A lot of them claim that she looks charming and beautiful, and she often uses the opportunity to kindly explain to them more about the condition.

She explained:

“I was often bullied while growing up and they were a normal part of my life but the response from others brought more attention to them.

My eyes were a common topic of interest when people who were not used to seeing them. But now, (using social media platform), I feel blessed to be able to inspire others who have the same condition and may be uncomfortable with it.”

Baby Girl Dies ‘After Being Raped By Her Father Who Googled “How Do I Know If A Baby Is Dead”‘

A 29-year-old father, Austin Stevens, has been arrested for allegedly raping his baby daughter, who died of the injuries at a hospital.

One Pennsylvania father has been arrested for allegedly raping his 10-month-old daughter, which led to her death a bit later at a hospital. Unfortunately,  tragedies of this kind remind us that the world is heading towards a horrible, shocking, and cold-hearted future.

The father from hell, Austin Stevens, 29, of Providence Township, was charged with aggravated sexual assault, rape of a child, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and other criminal counts in the death of his baby daughter, Zara Scruggs.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office explained that at around 10.40 pm on Saturday, Lower Providence police responded to a home in the 3400 block of Germantown Road to a report of an unresponsive infant.

  • After allegedly being raped by her father, Austin Stevens, 29 (left), baby Zara died of her injuries

  • Police responded to the father’s apartment in Providence Township, Pennsylvania, on Saturday night to a report of an unresponsive infant

Officers began CPR on the poor baby and transported her to Einstein Medical Center Montgomery. Yet, two hours later, she was pronounced dead.

Police obtained a search warrant to download the contents of the phone of his father and found out that he had conducted many Google searches for nearly an hour before calling 911 to get help for Zara.

According to prosecutors, his searchers included: ‘If baby stop breathing,’ ‘What if you don’t hear baby heart or beat,’ ‘My baby isn’t breathing,’ and ‘How do you know if a baby [sic] is dead.’

Allegedly, the man also exchanged social media messages and texts with two women and mentioned nothing about his baby. After searching the upstairs apartment, the police found a diaper Zara was wearing during the alleged rape.

  • The maternal grandparents of the baby said they never expected her biological father to attack her

The press release from the DA’s office stated that it was ‘saturated with blood.”

The results of an autopsy concluded that Zara, who had just learned how to walk, sustained anal rectal trauma and blunt force trauma to the head.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele called the crime “heinous” and added:

“This case is deeply disturbing. It is hard to imagine this child’s death being any more traumatic: sexual assault on an infant, followed by inaction by the father to save her life, led to her death.”

Steele added that authorities are waiting for additional forensic results to determine the cause of death of the child, as Stevens could face more charges. Stevens is being held at the county jail on $1million bail pending a preliminary hearing set for October 13.

People online claim that he is the co-owner of a construction company, and has also served as an assistant coach for the Lower Providence Warriors youth football team.

  • The 10-month-old baby was sexually assaulted and sustained blunt force trauma. Police found her diaper from the time of the rape and it was saturated with blood

He had a joint custody agreement with Zara’s mother, whose parents were among the last people to see Zara alive when they placed her in her father’s car and he took her to his apartment for an overnight visit.

Erica Scruggs, the baby’s mother, wrote on Facebook:

“I’m not okay. I really have no words … He will pay.”

One relative launched a GoFundMe page to help her grieving mother, for her “not to worry about any financial burdens associated with losing her child, including a memorial, moving costs,” and to start “a foundation to remember our beautiful Zara.”

She wrote:

“On October 4th, 2020, our beautiful Zara Lynn Scruggs was taken from us by a monster. She deserved to grow up. She deserved to be with her family. She deserved all the amazing things in this world.

She sparked so much joy. She was smart. She was silly. She was sassy. She was perfect. She was a beautiful baby and brought so much beauty into hundreds of lives.”

So far, the fundraiser has drawn over $44,400 in donations.

Stray Dog Found Curled Up In Snow Keeping Orphaned Kittens Warm

One heroic stray dog saved the lives of a litter of orphaned kittens by keeping them warm and cuddling them.

Heroes do exist, and many of them are not human. Animals often display a strong sense of affection and care, and it is their pure, selfless nature that urges them to help others when in trouble.

One cold day in November, one man spotted a shivering stray dog on the snowy roadside. He soon realized that she was not alone, as she has wrapped herself around a group of tiny, shivering, orphaned kittens.

He knew that the dog didn’t want to leave the poor kittens completely on their own, so she was cuddling with them to keep them warm and safe!

The five kitties would have certainly frozen to death if the friendly dog wasn’t there to take care of them. Not willing to simply leave them, the man decided to take them to the Pet and Wildlife Rescue shelter.

A shelter spokesperson said:

“It’s truly heartwarming! It had been a very cold night so these kittens would have had a very hard time surviving.”

As the kittens required constant attention, during the whole time, volunteer foster parents took care of them and made sure they received proper nutrition and supervision.

Posted by Pet and Wildlife Rescue on Saturday, November 16, 2019

The caring dog was named Serenity. She revealed her one-of-a-kind personality, and apart from being so loving, protective, and caring, she is also a very playful dog.

Even though she is approximately 2 years old, she has the energy of a puppy. She was never trained, spayed, or socialized, and she behaves like a dog who never had a proper home.

Posted by Pet and Wildlife Rescue on Friday, November 22, 2019

Serenity surely saved the kitten’s lives, as she prevented them from dying of hypothermia.

Moreover, during the entire treatment, she insisted on overseeing the kittens’ progress by regularly visiting them!

What an adorable creature! She taught us all a valuable lesson!

Serenity did what was right at the time. If we all follow her example, we could save millions of lives and surely make a difference.

Unfortunately, millions of kittens and cats live on the streets, and the majority of them don’t have the same luck to be saved by a human or dog. It is not possible to accurately study the number of stray cats or dogs living on the street.

If you visit any major city, you will surely see a lot of stray animals that fight for survival on a daily basis.

Yet, it is possible to study the number of pets that live in shelters in the U.S.

Here are some statistics that you might consider:

– Every year, 6.5 million pets end up in shelters

– 1.5 million of them get killed every year, and only 3.2 million are adopted

– 3.3 million spend their lives in shelter cages or are euthanized

We can all find a way to help animals in need, and here are a few tips:

– When you plan to get a pet, it is best to adopt one from a shelter

– You need to remember that you should stay committed to your pet, and not surrender them or rehome them

– To prevent overpopulation and homelessness, you should spay or neuter your pet

– If you could afford it, donate to a local animal shelter. Try to find time to volunteer as well.

Painful Letter Begs Burglar To Return Photos Of Dog’s Last Day Alive

A dog owner has been robbed and wrote a letter begging the burglar to return the memory card with the photos of her dog’s last day alive.

Dog owners are fully aware of the quality of life they enjoy thanks to the company of their furry best friends. Dogs are simply the most devoted dogs, loving and caring, witty and playful, smart, and cuddly.

Therefore, there are no words to describe the pain caused by their loss.

One dog owner from Toronto, Canada, was still grieving the loss of his precious dog when a thief entered her apartment and stole her belongings, including a camera with a memory card that had photos of her late dog, ones from her last days among the living.

Therefore, the woman desperately tried to retrieve these valuable pictures and put a letter on a lamp post close to the Lansdowne subway station begging the thief to return them anonymously.

Her beloved pet, Shelby, had been suffering from cancer. Even though she had received treatment, she wasn’t responsive. The woman even stated that the thief can keep all he had stolen, but she kindly asked him to return her priceless memories.

Here is the letter:

“To the man who was in my house and robbed me. Keep the cash, and my DSLR, and whatever else you took.

But if you have the memory card from the camera, please, it has photos of my dog’s last day alive on it.

I cannot replace those photos. Please throw it onto the porch or put it in the mail slot. Or mail it.

Please. She died a few days ago. I cannot lose those photos as well.”

The heart-wrenching letter moved numerous people, and one of them, Saoirse Morgan, shared the image and wrote:

“Photo taken at Bloor and Lansdowne. This is simply heartbreaking. I hope this person does the right thing.”

Morgan’s post has been shared tens of thousands of times by people who tried to help, and she added:

“She’s an amazing woman and she’s gone through so much recently. Her dog was a rescue. About a month ago her dog went through surgery on her paw to remove cancer, only to later find out the cancer spread, and not long after, she had to put her down. She gives so much to the Toronto community and people and animals everywhere. For people debating the gender of the thief: she spotted him on his way out. T’was a guy.”

While the entire thing happened over a year ago, we can just hope that the robber has decided to return the memory card to the woman out of compassion.   If he hasn’t and reads this now, we would kindly ask you to do the right thing too.

Bring this woman the memories she strongly craves for and help her in these dark moments.

Artist Turns Nuts, Bolts, and Scrap Metal Into Life-Size Animal Sculptures

One Oregon-based artist, Brian Mock, makes realistic, life-size animal sculptures entirely from reclaimed materials.

The world is a much more compelling and enchanting place when viewed from the eye of an artist. What may look completely trivial, useless, or dull to most of us, can easily become an object of interest to someone with highly developed creativity.

Thus, while most of us don’t think twice before throwing old car parts and cutlery away at the dump, one Oregon-based artist, Brian Mock, got an idea to create fantastic outdoor sculptures from scrap metal.

He collects materials that have been discarded or used and turns them into captivating human and animal sculptures. The sculptor has been exploring different kinds of artistic practices for a long time ago, but during the 1990’s he discovered his passion for upcycling art.

After learning how to weld, Mock was able to make his ideas come true, and turn the old pieces of metal into his works of art.

Nowadays, his artistry is fully evolved, and he is creating realistic, life-size metal animals, such as dogs, cats, and lions, made entirely from reclaimed materials.

Brian selects each piece very carefully, like the tails of the dogs, which are made from metal chains and the ears from large sheets of curved steel.

Mock explains:

“Giving old, everyday objects a new life as one sculpture is an artistically demanding, yet gratifying process. My work is designed to emphasize resourcefulness and encourage viewer engagement. Audience reactions fuel my creativity and help me bring my visions to life.”

Take a look at some of his amazing sculptures:

An artist, Brian Mock, uses reclaimed metal and creates incredible animal sculptures.

Every single piece of scrap material is carefully chosen to fit the forms of his subjects.
