The Australian firefighter calendar established in 1993 with the aim to support the Children’s Hospital Foundation, providing funds for research into childhood burns, has turned into an iconic one.
It has become the most popular calendar in the world, with photos of firefighters from Australia’s Urban, Rural, Aviation, Armed Forces and Corporate fire fighting services.
These men are handsome, with their hair slicked back, chiseled body, bumps, and lumps in all the right places, while keeping communities safe.
What’s more, last year, proceeds of the calendar went to organizations such as Down Syndrome South Australia, Kids With Cancer Foundation, Pets Of The Homeless Victoria, Youngcare QLD, Rural Aid Australia, Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, and Precious Paws Animal Rescue.
The firefighters go through 3 rigorous weeks of photography, and the final images are later put together to create the annual Australian Firefighters Calendar, which has managed to raise more than $3 million in the last 27 years, with $1.9 million of that being donated in the past 5 years alone.
More than 130 applied, 44 were photographed, and only 30 were chosen.
Calendar director David Rogers said the men subject themselves to months of hard training to secure a spot, and in this way, they make a difference to people they will never meet.
He adds that their motivation is being involved in something bigger than what they might achieve by themselves, for some, it is so their families can to be proud of them, and for others, it is because they have received support from the organizations the calendar supports.
The gorgeous men in the calendar are posing with adorable rescue animals, and about 3 weeks ago, the team posted a photo on their Instagram page with a caption that read: “It’s International Homeless Animals Day this weekend.
Our two gorgeous 2020 cover models Simba the kitten and puppy George have both been adopted since our photoshoot and we couldn’t be happier! Please remember this weekend to #AdoptDontShop.”
David added that the animals involved have such an impact on the firefighters that they fall in love with their co-stars, so every year rescue animals are adopted by the firefighters at the photoshoot.
Numerous groups will benefit from the proceeds of the 2020 Australian Firefighters Calendar, including sick children, struggling farmers, disaffected youth and animal welfare charities.
These calendars can be shipped to any part of the Globe, and you get to choose from 6 different versions: Cat, Dog, Horse, Wildlife, Farm Animal and the Classic Hot Firefighters. The calendars are sold for about $ 20, and also feature 10 pack of greeting cards.
Take a look at these photos- what do you think, can the calendars get any hotter?
