Have you heard of the Maine Coon cat breed before? Well, if you have dreamt of having a miniature lion at home, try finding one of these regal and majestic cats! Maine Coon cats are incredibly gorgeous and cherished worldwide for their size.
These cats have an appearance that is something between a cat and a lynx, with fluffy paws, ear tufts, and massive personalities. Also known as ‘the Gentle Giant,’ this cat is the largest domesticated cat breed in the world.
These cats have a gentle personality, numerous “dog-like” characteristics, and are highly intelligent and playful. Robert Sijka, a photographer who specializes in cat photography, has lovingly captured the beauty and uniqueness of these cats.
He explains that he combines his passions, cats and photography. This was a result of a move to China he and his family made 14 years ago. After a while, they started missing the company of animals, and as they fell in love with Maine Coons, his wife Izabella started a breeding program 8 years ago, which became the first-ever Maine Coon cattery in China.
As the first litter of kittens was born, his journey started. He decided to take pictures that have something special, and after several thousands of photos, he ended up with his current style and great pleasure from working with these adorable creatures.
He claims that the real secret behind his photography is called patience, as he sometimes has to spend a couple of hours and take hundreds of images to get this one perfect picture.
Moreover, the best way to get the cat’s attention is by playing with them, and he does, a lot!
Robert explains that his goal is to show different expressions and emotions flowing from the cat’s eyes, and he uses a simple background and light setting which complements the cat, nothing else. He adds that he follows Albert Einstein’s maxim:
“Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.”
You can find his prints, phone cases, blankets, and more in his online shop, the Felis Gallery. Take a look at these amazing pictures below and you will understand why they captivate people all around the world:
